— :oo: — "St. Mungo" m the Waikato Times tells the following story about the daughter of one of the Auckland local aristocrat's lhe old gentlemen is prover bial for his love of the " Almighty dollar" nnd the daughter seems to resemble her fatherin this respect. It sterns that one day she and another young lady were doing some shopping together, when the \ itter found. 'that -she , was short of change and had to apply to her more wealthy friend for thf loan of twoponce, which was readily eiren. A few days afterwards the young lady who ,had borrowed' the money called on her friend for the purpose of repaying the loan. She tendered two bronze copies of 'Her Majesty's features. Her surprise may be rcore readily imagined, than. des* cribed when her friend said, ' That is not sufficient. ' There is a halfpenny due for interest.'
