A, Macqaarrio, Fortunate m having secured glorioii! weather, a good attendance and an at tractive programme, the Manawati Racing Club can bo congratulated 01 their third annual meeting held yes'ter day. There was not a single hitch tc mar the proceedings, and everything went a.s merry as a marriage bell. Al though the booths were well patronised and consequently a large amount o jollification, order was maintained throughout the day, and the services o the guardians of the peace, who wer< there m force, were not called int< requisition. The racing was also excel lent. The running was straight, ant tho.se who laid money on horses knev when they •parted' that the best anima had carried off the honors. H« led the way all round, took the hurdle! with ease. A. capital start was effected, the favorite, Laurel leading the way, until coming near home, when the^ockey/of Atheline who held the third position 'at the last half mile passed the leading^ horses, Laurel and Countess, and proved an easy winner. Euchre who was the favorite led the way, and was likely to prove the winner, but when nearxng the judges tjfcand, his jockey applied the spur and the horse bolted off jbhe course^ giving (he race to Yolaride, who held second place.
