Mrs Emma Dowd, an acid looking: female of uncertain age, attended Bowstreet on 3rd instant- to announce to a sympathetic magistrate the disappearance of her husband, a doctor wellkuown at the antipodes. It seems that Mr and.Mrsi Ij|o\jd rqturHed from NewZealand m May.last, ana on the 16th of that month Mrs Dowd set oft to visit relatives m Devonshire, receiving from her husband £10 to defray expenses. He accompanied her to Waterloo Station and promised to., write, but since that time she had neither seen or heard of him. He came to England with tho view of taking a chemist's business m the suburbs, and transmitted £500 to jr. London Bank, but upon enquhy they found the accoun.t had ; been closed.
