THE TONQUIN DIFFICULTY.
War Imminent. (by electkio telegraph— copxbight.) (reutkr's telegrams.) Paris, December 5. It has transpired that the Chinese Government continues io adopt a firm and unyielding attitude m the negotiations which are now proceeding for the settlement of the Tonquin difficulty, and refuse either to withdraw or" to modify its claims m Tonquin, and is prepaid to appeal to arms rather than surrender to France the military posts m Tonquin which are now occupied by the Chinese troops.
