LOSS OF LIFE AT SEA.
Hokitika, October 19. The schooner Wanganui arrived to-day from Dunedin. Captain Long reports the loss of one of his men named Peter Oister. He was lost overboard whilst running through Cook Strait m a gale of wind. AU efferts to save the man were unavailing. He was a Russian by birth, hailing irom Riga.
