Mete Kingi.
rChronicle.j ..,..,. In consequence of a large number of natives from all ' parts of the North Island having written and telegraphed expressing a desire to attend Mete Kingi's funeral, it has been poetponed until Monday afternoon next. It is said that Tawhaiao,, the Maori King, is desirous to attend, and that Wi Tako, from Wellington and leading chiefs from Auckland, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay and the head ot the Wanganui River will make their way to Putiki m the course of tbe next few days. The train last night brought, m about thirty Native men and women,- of a very respectable well-to-do - class, from Otaki, and it is reported- that before ■ another I twenty-four hours are~over there will be about 500 visitors to. th£ pay His Wbr- ; ship the Mayor has declared Monday afternoon to be. a public holiday, and; the Volunteers, under the personal direction of Major Stapp, are making all necessary preparations for the funeral parade and firing party. Over at Putiki the tangi, mixed with a good deal of speach- making-, goes on daily. ,
