Petty Larceny.
[Wellington Paper.] The servant took her mistress' dress, and went to a ball at the Hutt. And the- servant liked the dress so much that, instead of returning it next day, she took a trip to Wellington, and was there arrested on a charge of stealing it. This put an end to the girl's romance. She was brought up yesterday at the Resident Magistrate's Court. Her name was Mary Creedon. She told the Bench that Mrs Hewitt, her employer, had promised some time ago to give hir this same dress and a pair ot boots, if she remained m her service like a good girl. She did remain some time, and then considered she had a right to her mistress' dress, and put it on. She did not think sho was stealinz it. The Bench thok its own view of the case, and sentenced the giddy girl to a week's imprisonment.
