A curious little incident occurred m the House on Thursday aftemooo. Mr Whitaker accuged Sir George Grey of talking against timß to prevent the third reading of the Appropriation Bill, and m doing so said that even the oreatest men could sometimes do exactly the same things that they blamed others for doing, He added that it was admitted that Sir George Grey was the greatest man ou the Opposition side of the House, to which Mr Montgomery replied warmly, '« He is the greatest man m the House," which coming f rom such a quarter brought down the heartiest cheer that has been heard from the opposition benches for some weeks past.
