Loc al Industry.
A large variety cf work is being turned out just now at Murray's Wanganui foundry. A powerful iron press for crushing down bones and extracting tallow therefrom is about completed for Messrs Mitchell and Richards' meat preserving works. Messrs Bartholomew, of Feilding? hava just had a multitubular boiler and JO -horse power stationary horizontal engine built for their sawmill. One of the neatest pieces of work we have seen is a small engine and boiler of 2£ horse power for Mr Foster's soda water fa.tory. The cylinder has a diameter of four inohes, and gives an 8 -inch stroke ; while the boiler is 4£ feet length and three feet m diameter. A similiar "engine, but ot greater power, is being constructed for the Dairy Factory Company. One of the best pieces of work is a new crank for the Tui , forged from a solid piece of iron. In addition to the above, Mr oiurray is also busy with the manufacture of colonial ovens, railway castings, and wheelbarrows t r tbe hard labor prisoners. Ihe iron work is all turned out m a high state of finish, which would do credit to any establishment of limilar resources m the colony,
