Attempted Suicide.

Thursday's Taranaki Herald has the following :— > Information was received from Opunake to-day, that Mr Claike (late Manager of Middletou Bros/ HoteV Opunake), had taken an overdose o' chloral last night, and as there was no stomach pump to be procured, be was m a very dangerous state* Dr O'Uarroll waß telegraphed for to proceed to Opunake. -...--■- - "Later information received by a telegram from Opunake to-day at 1.35, etates that Mr_Clarke.:partly-,recoveTed from the effects of chloral at 8 p.m. laßt night. At 10 a.m. to-day, Clarke again attempted 'suicide by cutting his throat, but it is thought he" will recover. Dr Alexander is m attendance, and doing every thing possible to prevent the injuries having a fatal termination.
