The proposal that an amnesty be granted to Lotrise Michel, the wellknown Socialist, who was convicted on a charge of sedition and sentenced to six years' penal servitude, has been re* jected by a Chamber of Deputies. Robert Steele and Co., engineers, Greenock, have convened a meeting of tbeir creditors. In the House of Commons to-daj, Mr Fawcett, the PostmasternGeneral, stated, m reply to a question, that m consequence of the disturbance at Brindisi, the next, overland mail hart been ordered to proceed direct from Port Said to Plymouth, without calling at any of the Mediterranean ports. Tenders for the New South Wales Three million Loan will be received up till the 17th July. The minimum is fixed at par. The stock will be inscribed by the Bank of Hlnujland.
