Much consternation is felt at Italian seaports and throughout the country generally at the rapid spread of cholera m Egypt,and fears are entertained that the epidemic may be introduced by yea* sels arriving via the Suez Canal. The populace at Brindisi have avowed their intention of preventing passengers or mails from Egypt being landed at that port and on the arrival of the P. & O. steamship Surat to-day, then re-> f ased to allow the overland mails to ba brought ashore.
