[Wellington Paper.] The steamer ffuia lost her propeller early on Tuesday morninsr, while on her passage from Wanganui to this port. It appears that she left Waiijjanui at 8 p.m. on Monday,with mo^evntenortherly winds and sea. At $vo minutes pas: Midnight the Engineer noticed that the tngiue had suddanlv gained extraordinary velocity, those on deck finding at almost the same time that the vessel was losing speed . The ongines haying been stopped, an examination was mad ■, when it was discovered that the pro peller ha 4 goi}e, As it happened, a gteam.er hove m sight shottlynferVa*d^, and she was immediately signalled by Captain Chambers,. As good luck would have it, she proved .• to bo the Toi, owned by the game Company, and bound from Wellington to Wanganui, and her services were at once secured to tow the Haia to Wellington, where they arrived at 10. 30 a.m. yesterday, On making a close survey to-day, it was found that the shaft h~d broken off close to the inner stern post. It is believed that it had been weakened
