PARLIAMENTARY.

Following is a list of the principal Bills which the Government intend to bring down during the present session ; — Local Courts, Bankruptcy, Married Women's Property, Bills of Exchange, Fisheries Impounding, Tenants' Fixtures, Alienation of Land, Public Trustees, Leaseholders' Qualification, Mining Companies Act Amendment, General Assembly Expenses of Mem» bers, Legislative Officers' Salaries, Parliamentary Privileges, Land Law Amendment, Government Life Insurance, Life Insurance Policies. Consolidation B 11s will be submitted as fol l o ws :— Criminal Code, Municipal Corporation, Counties, Property Law, Trusts and Trustees, Patents, Saving Banks, and Town Districts.

After 11 o'clock last night considerable debate took place on the second reading of the Fisheries Bill> Meßrs Moss, Seddou, Hutchinson and others strongly opposing it as tyrannical and unjust. Mr Seddon moved, it be referred to a select committee for the purpose of bein g; alterred so as to; place the control of fisheries m the hands of local bodies and made simply to provide for a class or binding season. The amendment was lo3t, and the Bill was read a second time on the TOICOB. Mr Dick moved moved the second reading of the N. Z University Act Amendment Bill, the object of which was to enable degrees to be conferred m science. Mr Hutchinson strongly condemned the. university as neither a teaching nor an examining body. Mr Shaw and Colonel Trimble pointed oat some teshnical objections to the Bill which was then read a second time. The House rose at 12.35.
