Loaves and Fishes.
f Wansjanui Herald, j Since the practice of giving subsidies and endowments to local bodies has fallen into disuse, one or two municipalities have sprung into existence on the coasb, and they are beginning to cry out that they are not pa? takers of benefits similar to those which fell to the lot ol the oldei boroughs. Not even, they complain, has a bill been introduced to tive them assistance on a principal similar to that given to country districts under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, and chey are very wroth with the Government for having been thus neglpctful of their intpr^stb. It is probable that some representations will be made to the Government on the matter.
