CHARGE OF MURDER. PENAL SERVITUDE T?OR LIFE. (BY TELBttKAPH) j (united press association.) j Gisborne, This Day. j The Supreme Court Bat till nearly ten last night hearing the charge against Maere Te Whera for the murder of a native chief on the East Coast. A verdict ot manslaughter was returned, the jury de Iberatinu; half an hour. Sentence was deferred till this morning, when his Honour passed a sentence of penal servitude for lifo. This concluded the criminal business.
