The Dunedin Fire.

THE ENQUIRY.

[by. telegraph.} (united press association) Dunedin, June 19 The inquiry into the goods shed fire was contioued to-day. Nothing has, as. yet, been elicited to suggest the cause of the outbreak. The engine which shunted trucks into the tsh^d on the day of the fire only went just inSfde' the north door, so that the fire cou'd scarcely have been caused by it, as flames broke pat at the south end . The engine-driver thought -it unlikely that sparks were emitted from the funnel, as they were only emitted wheto the engine was under extra pressure. No direct evidence was obtained about smokmgir -which was forbidden. The inquiry wilt go on again to-morrow.

-: Later. June 20. The inquest into the goods shed fire concluded to-day. ' The jury found that there was no evidence to show how the fire originated, and that the only thing which came out m any wav to account for its, origin was-that some boys, over an hour before^-lheiflamea broke out, saw a flickering- as from a dying fire m the office. The jury added a rider refen ing to the advibability of sush erections being built with several brick partitions having dead lights, so that watchmen might see inside, and other points. :
