Fancy Dress Ball.
The following were some of the characters represented : — GENTLEMEN. Sir Garnet Wolseley, Mr Stailard : stocknaan, Mr Salmon ; Jack Rackstraw, M** Smith ; chinaman, Mr W. G. Robinson ; gentleman of the reign of Louis IV, Mr A. R.-T. Hauitain ; athleto, Mr Belfit ; man of war sailor, Mr Hamilton ; day and night, Mr Maul ; si angles, Mr Voight ; sailor boy, Mr Simpson ; jockey, Mr Lyons ; harlequin, Mr Bush ; *ed K^lly, Mr ' Uaverhill ; Lolly, Mr Matz ; sailor, Mr Leigh. The most perfect disguise was Mr W. G. Robir son, as a. Chinaman, with pigtail and loosr garments. LADIES . Gre'chen (2). Misses Goodison ; Fairy Queen, Miss Ev* Goodiaon ; Red Riding Hood, Miss Johnston ; Highland lassies, Miss MauL and Miss Walkley j nurstj-girl, Miss Richardson ; Spanish jjirl, Miss Smith ; "Night, Miss Paffita, Mrs Batt, and Mrs Wood ; flower girl, Miss Clemens; Madchen, Mrs Tarrant j pilot giri, Miss Bu*h ; morninji 1 , Miss Fanthorpe ; fish-wile, Mrs Snow. The two Misses Goo/iison as Gretchea were most complete. There were some twenty others m ordinary evening dress. As we said before, thi Ball passed off very pleasantly.
