Manawatu Standard, (PUBLISHED DAILY.) Suivant la Verite. TUESDAY, JUNE 14, 1883. MORE PARTIALITY.
Elsh where we publish gratuitously for the t ihformatwri [of SQarehdlders arid those interested, notioe'of an Extraordinary General Meeting of t^e ton and Mapawatu Railway Company, to be held m the Chamber of Cbmmerce, Wellington, on Thursday, .June. 28, at noon, to consider certain important alterations -in the presehfc Articles of Association. The shareholders resident m Manawatu appear to be .completely ignored m, all these <■ things. When a fourth call was made no public announcement 'of the fact was made m f\ny of the Manawatu papers. When contract after contract ig advertised at the Wellington end, contractors m Manawatu are not permitted ordinary facilities to tender ; and though plans; speciflcations,:and condi tioris- can be seen at Wellington, Auckland, Uhristchurch, and Dunedin, no mention is made of Palmerßton. : It is really surprising the local member of the Directorate does not strongly remonstrate against the partiality thus shewn by the Board; of Directors. Wellington aad Wellington interests are paramount, and Mana» watu has to take a .backseat. Never consulted, not considered m any way, quietly ignored. This is the position, let the arguments brought ' forward on the other side be what they may. And yet the affair is going on " swimoiing 1 ly " ! There is still much to be said on bhe question, which we" are determined to ventilate: thoroughly m tho interpsts of th« districfc, as well as of the local shareholders m the Company, ' nearly all of whom heartily commend. the-couiSH we have adopted m reference to this matter. .
