The Mauawatu Railway Company ! to-day received a cable from Sir Julius Yogel, announcing that : their debentures, amounting to £200,000, have been taken up by a 'London syndicate. The debentures bear 5 per cant.jitxterest, but the Directors refuse to state afc what price they have been disposed of,: beyond the general statement that it is a satisfactory one. By the Act they cannot sell at a price which will give: the purchasers more than 6 per cent. The reserve of 400,000 shares has also beea taken up m London on the same ' terms as the shares held m the colony. . The Directors, now intend to f push oni the construction of the line with the greatest possible rapidity. .„ t
