News From Taupo.
THE CENTRAL 1 ROUTE/ ' (HERALD OORRKSPONDBNT. ) .. . Tattpo, May i 28. ..'.,. Mr Willijwns, who. is sarveying one of the proposed liDesHfor^he mainjtrunk railway, has arrived here. He describes the earlier -part of the. route as very rough, especially at the Mohaka river, and some parts of the Ripia Valley' to McDonald and Moore's station, from whence to east side of Lake Taupo, no engineering difficulties exist. Mr Williams says the line would pass through 5 miles of .good; totara :bußh.T The surveyor has experienced severe weather a'most all the time." Thfe weather here hns been the werst .known for years. Thfi roads are much, cut up. Three survey parties have been driven m to Taupo through bad weather.— Mr Williams 1 leaves here to-day for JFq Awamutu, | to survey the northern portion' of the maw trunk line from the east. side of Lake Taupoir?
