A PALMERSTON THEATRE.
(TO THB EDITOR OF THE STANDARD.) Si '.—I am very pleased to see a pro* posal on foot to erect a suitable theatre for Palmerston. Such a building ia very much wanted. I was m the Hall to see the company now performing here, and I heard many renaark upon the inart^qna'e accommodation afforded by the Foresters' Hall. The defects of the stage wore palpably, m fact painfully apparent, and the lack of scenery was scarcely atoned for by the magnificent appurtenances the property of the company. If we expect good companies to visit Palmerstori, we must b • prepai ed to offer th"m better accom > odation than that afforded by the Foresters' Hall, the interior appointments of which are sadly behind the time. I hope our public men will take the lead m the matter, as I am sure the building: would pny well, and be an ornament and advantage to the place. — I am, &c, Progress.
