R.M. COURT
(Before H. McNeil, BJsq.^and'J;, Wain degrave Esq., J.P's.) At the Police Court yesterday, a man named John. Jacksop, was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Palmerston District Court, for having obtained money from Mr Fenton; of the Royal Hotel, by means of a valueless order. Mr Hawkins, S9nr. defended the accused. It appears that Jackson has been ip the habit of .receiving out small remittances; froni Home! ; ispme time ago, h£ received a' draft for £10, which Mr Fenton cashed through the Bank of Australasia. This was the second of exchange. The first subsequently came to hand, which Mr Fentbn also cashed at Jackson's request, neither he nor the Banker noticing that the draft was the duplicate of the order already paid. An information was afterwards laid with the above result. The accused main* tains that he thought the draft last receded was another remittance, at least, we understand that will be his defence on his tiiil. * ; ■
