THE NATIVE POLICY.

The Lyttelton Timos, a consistent opponent.of Mr Bryce's native policy, admits that he is entitled to much credit for his march through the King country. It says :-- c ! There never was a better illustration of the value of ' Nothing venture nothing win.' We were among those who, before the march, advised the more prudent course, and were the thing to be done ever again, we should do exactly as we did before. At the same time we freely confess that the better part has produced the better result;. The modesty with which Mr Bryoe has alluded to that result is a great credit to him. . . .We never approved of the Pnribaka business, and we are not going to approve of it now. But that does not prevent us from congratulating Mr Bryoe on the success of his march through the King country. The first great step has been gained by him."
