Volunteer Intelligence.
On the 24th instant, Queen's Birthday, there will bo an inspection parade of the Palmerston Corps m the forenoon, after which the Company, beaded by the new Volunteer Brass Band, will proceed to the butts, to fire for Company prizes. &c, ol> which there are many substantial ones to be competed for. In the evening the Volunteer Ball tnkes place, which promises to be a most successful affair. The Ball will be opened by the band, after which a most efficient orchestra will play throughout ! the evening. It is expected that the ball will be opened by Major Stapp, and other officers from Wanganai. The npw drill-shed is now m progress of erection, and will, when finished, be v great convenience, both as a drill-shed and band -room. It is but just to say that to Lieutenant Carrol's energy is duo the fact of the "Volunteers being the possespors either of the drillr-sbed or the band, which latter promises m a short time to become second to none on the Coast.
