Near Hinds's station, Samuel Chesson, a fireman on the southern express, was firing up, and standing on one foot on the engine and the other on the ten* der. Suddenly the coupling pirted ar.d Chesson fell. The whole train passed over him, mangling him dreadfully. His neck was broken and his right hand ' and left foot cut off. He was a single man, twenty years of age, and lived at T/imara.
