(UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, Miy 7. The remains of the late Professor Walker w?re bnried to day with Masonic honors. After the service m the Masonic HaU, where the body had been lyiug since its recovery, the procession wbi h was half- a mile m lenr-th, proceeded to the Anglican Cemetery. The chief mourners were, Sir G, M. OMRorke (Chairman of the TTniversity Council), Rev. Thomas Buddie, and Thomas B-iddle. The Private Secretary, Mr Pennefather, represented His Excellency the Goyernor. The succeeding 1 carriages ccntainpd members of the University Senate, the Board of Governors, and the masters ot the Auckland College and Grammar School, &c. Professor Tucker was not sufficiently recovered to attend. Bishop Cowie conducted the burial service, and delivered an address, — — — — Wellington, May 7. The Tipperary Company at M«cetown has obtained 5990z of retorted gold from 412 tons of stone. A woman was arrested on Friday night who was found lying m a dirty ditch m South Dunedin with an infant m her arms. Had she not been discovered, the infant would, no doubt, have been smothered .
