DANGEROUS BRIDGES.

We have frequently drawn attention; to the bridges on the Stoney Creek Line. We again warn the public that several of them are m a most dangerous state. We are informed that the one near the School-house had no less than three holes m the planking, into one of which an unfortunate horse fell, cutting its leg very severely, and probably injuring it for life, In these dark nights it is juat possible that a fatal acpideut may occur, and then who will be to blame ? We_ fear that m the event of a | broken limb, or injury to an animal or vehicle, an action for damages would lie against the County Council, which body is most undoubtedly, morally, if not legally, responsible for the verydanger? ous state m which several of the bridges are, and have been for some time past. We presume it is the duty of some ! .person to look after the bridges, and we can Vay that for monthp past (we write from personal observation) the fact that repairs were urgently wanted has been perceptibly apparent. We urge the Chairman or member for the Riding, to go and see for themselves, and they will then admit that our remarks are amply borne out by facts. Nearly every bridge without exception requires f att u ntion. [Since the above was written, we learn that repairs are being carried out by one solitary individual, causing gieat delay to the traffic on the road, which, being Saturday, was unusually heavy. Two or three men should have i been immediately put on to effect re« pairs, which should have been seen to [ weeks or months ago.]
