An Outside Opinion.
[ Wanganui Paper. J The export of convicted criminals from the congenial atmosphere of "Palmerston North continues briskly. Yesterday we recorded the arrival of a consignment of two prisoners bound, for the Wanganui gaol, and last night the train brought down a third, m a person of a man named Heany, who had been sentenced to a month for stealing a pair of boots. The influx of criminals from Palmerston is one of the most serious signs of the times,, and furnishes a strong ar •uthentfor enlarging the present Wanganui gaol or building another one somewhere else. The apathy upon this subject displayed by the Pal merston Press is painful bo ..any well-regulated mind, and can only be extenuated by the' absorbing nature of the' topics, such as illicit stills, and discoveries of precious stones, which greatly exercise the j oui-nalisfcic mind at P* 1 merston.
