[Wellington .Paper*] . We i regret exceedingly that it falls to our duty, to record the premature death of Mr Frederick Nicholls, formerly sub? editor of- the Otago Daily Time?. Mr Nicholls, besides being a most intelligent and genial person m general society, was m his own particular sphere one of the ablest Pressmen m New Zealand, As a Parliamentary reporter he was was known amongst Pressmen as unsurpassed m the colony. He possessed the rare faculty of, .reporting and con* densing for the Press at the same tim9i It was most unfortunate for him that he some times gave way to his one failing— a failing; to which we need not further allude, but one, unhappily, too common - among able and brilliant Pressmen m all parts of the world. Still, let those who are absolutely free from all sin be the first to throw stones at the memory of an upright, kind* hearted, and highly intelligent man. 16 is only due to the late iMr Nicholls to state that his end was hastened by devotion to hiaJuty, whilst- constantly inhaling the foul air of the Parliam nt Houses m Wellington. Mr Nicholls leaves a widow and two children to lamenc his loss.
