STEVENS & GOATON'S STOCK SALE.

At the Borough Yards on Tuesday, notwithstanding the very inauspicious weather, the attend anoe of buyers was a;ood, and had the day been bectei*, a very successful sale wouldr have had to have ben reoorded. As usual, the stock sent for sale was m excels of that advertised. .It is to ba regretted that vendors do not.enjter earlier, so that their stock can be catalogued and advertised, as the attendance of outside, buyers to . a- large extent depends upon the number of stock advertised. It is not fair to the auctioneers to defer entering stock till ,the T morning of the sale, as they have generally . special buyers for particular classes of stock, when they know such, are coming forward. ' We trust our breeders will take the friendly hint m future, which it ig really materially to their own inte ests to conform to. Prices for cattle not ruling high just now, not many were entered, though ovar 100 head were yarded, also some 1300 sheep. There was not an active demand for cattle at the sale, but nearly all were quitted afterwards. The class of sheep yarded, with few exceptions, were not of good quality, and , the heavy rain rather militated against higher prices being obtained. There was not much bidding for the horses,, nor indeed, were many good animals entered. The following are some of the quotations :— Cattle.— • Beef, £6 15s, and dull of sale ; store cows, £2103 ;'lB- months, mixed cattle, from £3 5s to £3 10s ; heifers, £3jcows, £3 lOrtb £4 j sllers, "* frbn"^|F years to 3 years, £3 10s to £4 lO'al Sheep —Pat sheep, lOi 3d to 11s 3d; lambs, 3s 6d: to Ss 9d ; : store ewes, 59 6d to.Bsr.Bd.. ; Pigs.--Store pigs, 7a.
