A Successful Bank.
In the race that is going on between the Colonial Banks, the Bank of Australasia is cominsr to the front with a lone; leal A London telegram, dated December 29, states that the Court of Directors have announced the issue of new shares to the amount of £400,000, making the paid up capital £1,600,000. This will be the largest paid ud capital of any bank m the colonies. Referring: to this the Insurance and Banking Record says : — " The increase of their capital, mainly from English sources, is the banking policy which will most benefit the bank's Australian customers. The prosperity of the bank is doubtless due m no small degree to good and efficient management, and the directois have recognized the value of their staff officers m a roost substantial manner by granting a bonus of ten per cent, on* | salaries and gratuities. The Superintendent's circular intimates that the bonus will be paid to officers and supernnmerary officers who were m the employment of the Bank on October 10th, 1882, and continued m its service up to March 3rd.
