A movement has been initiated by Mr Edward Trickett to provide funds for the return of John Largan to England. Tn regard to th? murder of a Chinese doctor at Arraidale, it has transpired that on Saturday morning a Chinaman asked a blacksmith at Ural la to read a certain document which proved to be a d«p«sit receipt from the Com mercial Bank, Arrridale, to Jemmy Young, the murdered Chinaman, for £180. In consequence of this information, two Chinamen, who went to Ural la on Saturday morning by train, have been arrested and brought to Armidale. ; Enthusiastic anti-Redmond meetings had been held at Forbes, Windsor, and other place. Melbourne. f Some boys while gathering rags at the Corporation heap m Colliugwood made a strange discovery. After ' raking about among the i-efuse of the place for some time, they found a quantity of human remains buried just below the surface. The remains consisted of a female skull and thigh bones, with the ribs and some other smaller bones. The skull bad been sawn m two. Ihe boys took the remains to the Collingwood watchhouse, where the police after inspecting them, concluded that they had been made the subject of a post mortem examination. Inquiries will be made as to how the remains got there. Many people suppose them to be th» remains of the woman Farrell, who was murdered by her husband some years ago m Colling wood, and whose body was never found. Last week the body of a female child was found ou the "Victoria Parade, East Melbourne. A post mortem examination showed that the child had been born alive, but had been bruised and beaten almost to a jelly. Its inside had been smashed, and the neck twisted so as to cau<e death. It is evident that a brutal murder has been committed. ' Sir Julius Vogel's tender for the lighting of Elizabeth-street for six months by electricity has been accepted by the City Council. There is much excitement here over the receipt or the cable messages relating to Ireland.
