Professor Ellery reports that opera* tions at Singapore, Port Darwin, Adelaida, and Melbourne, for determin* ing longitudes of Australia, have been completely snccessful. Sydney, M*rch 15. The Legislative Assembly has passed, by a very large majority, a vote of £150,000 for immigration purposes. ■ A. walking match between O'Leary and Edwards, for £200, has commenced here, Edwards is far^aheadi a position, he has maintained for some time since the commencement of the contest.
