We take the following from a.Wairaj rapa contemporary : — '» We regret to hear that nearly a third of the grain | harvest m and around M asterton have been damaged, by the late rain 9, and a good deal has 1 been destroyed. Some stacks were barely finished when tho rain came on, and some where imperfectly constructed. The* consequeuce is that from the roof downwards the wheat has jfot damp and is begining to grow. Messrs Chamberlain Bros., Welch, and Caajj;bell,and the Maoris at Te Ore Ore, are spoken of as heavy sufferers."
