DEAD BODY WASHED ASHORE. FOTJL PLAY SUSPECTED. i : (BY TELEGRAPH.) Wanganui, Feb. 28. From information which came to the knowledge of the police yesterday, it was found that the little girl, whose body was found on th^ beach on Tuesday afternoon, was tbe daughter of a woman residing at Poverty Flat;, the fa'her being a Chinaman. The child (who is not, as was supposed a half-caste Maori) was about 3£ years af age . Circumstances at preseut point strongly to foul-play, and ; the woman was arreaced by Sergeant Bisaet yesterday afternoon on suspicion.
