(UNITED I'RESS ASSOCIATION.) Patea, Feb. 28. John Black, late treasurer to the Patea County Council, haa been committed for trial for embezzlement of County funds. Other charges against him will be heard to-morrow, and,in the meantime he ? is out on bail. Titckowaru's tribe are passing through Patea on their way to Waitotara. The old feliow was afraid to came hinaßelf at the moment, and sent the chief Awauhera ' as his representative. This is the first time these natives have been this way siuce tie war m 1868. An information was served on George Beamish, late Cotraty Dog Tax Collector, to-day for enibezzlembnt of County funds. The hearing is fixed for Friday. . ,
