In reference .to the distress ( m Irelandj about which questions have been asked m Parliament, it appears from the letter of a special correspondent of the Irish Times that m the County of Clare great distress is threatened, owing to the failure of the potato crop and an epidemic among pigs, and dear prices. The taxes levied on the farmers by the Crimes Act are a Very heavy burden. Public works are recommended. : The country, it is stated prebenta a most melancholy and unin-. viting appearance, .
