Ministers at Kawhia.

Rolleston and party landed at Kawhia on Friday evening, and were well received by the natives, who brought numerous presents of food. On Saturday Captain Fairchild buoyed the channel of Kawhia harbour, and found that he could go m and out with the- Stella at dead low water. Mr Percy Smith, the Chief Surveyor, planned a township for laying out. " The Hon. J. Bryce had an interview with Honi' Wetere, the principal chief of the district, and the latter went on board the Stulla m the evening, and had a long talk with, the Defence Minister. . This morning the Ministerial partly came on overland to Alexandria, accompanied by the special correspondent of the tLerald. The Stella, with the Undersecretary of the Native Department, T. W. Lewis, on board, sailed for Onehunga, arriving at 10 m the evening. v •
