Railway Accident.

A horrible accident .occurred- on the Vandalia railroad, Indiania,": on November 23. A passenger train collided with a construction train. The Utter was running; foremost. A fall supply of coal had just been taken on, and the collision throwing tbe tender up, the Wa^'W^fit-^ael'#al'^p a eliea''tnlio > the cab, barling tbe engineer, John Ciorawell, againat the boiler head, and holding him immoVabrr^g'aitfßC v tbirßi6t'! iron. The stopcocks were opened by the substance striking them, and the escaping steam and almost redhot boiler 'burned' and > scalded -the unfortunate man m a terrible manner. He, cried piteiously for help/Jjutj if \wfi impossible to extricate him. He retained conscious- j ness for a fall -half- hour, and as his ] body was. j being ., literally , broiled be begged ■ m heart-rending 1 tones for Ms .comrades to kill if they could not release him. The cries gradually grew fainter, and death relieved him 'from suffering after he had endured the! tortures of* a thousand deaths. The \ wreck was finally pulled away- by; another engine, and the; body taken to an undertaking iestablisament. ■
