A very fair w-ek's business is reported and we are pleased to learn that the suicidal competition to which we have so often referred is not nearly so keen. In some directions a firmness m prices is perceptible, bat m heavy lines there is no improvement m values. A very good inquiry exists for cornsacks, and sales have been made at 8s 3d per doziD, ex ship ; from store we quote 8s 6d ; we do not hear o\ any business m woolpacks, except an occasional small parcel, at 3s Id to 3s 2,1 for full size. 'Galvanised iron is quoted nominally from stock at £23 10s to £24 ; sales are quoted at a shade less, but the report requires confirmation. Fencing wire, No 6, has had good business, and is quoted at £14 ;we quote Nos 7 and 8 .£l4 10s and £15 respectively. Colonial Produce— Grass seeds have some inquiry ; sales of rye grass see > have been made at 4s 91 for first-claßj samples ; new season's coslcsooft may be quoted at 4£ I per Ib. Butter—^e hay* no alteration go reported 3'nce our last j prime cheese sells freely from 8 1 to B£.l. Flour has been sold by auction daring the week at £10 10s for sacks ; oats are quoted at 3s 4d to 3s 9-}.
