The Australasian Insurance and Banking Record has an article commenting on the New Zealand Loan, It draws attention to the date of issue and the minimum fixed, and says that it looks like an attempt to "jostle" Victoria. The Record adds that it is the firat time m the history of the colonies that such a proceeding has occurred. Sydney, Jan. 11. Mr if. S. Farnell, Secretary for Lands, has been re-elected wihont opposition. Mr 9. H. Reid, Minister of Public Instruction, has defeated his opponent (Mr Elkington) byfa large majority.
