TENDERS FOR THE VICTORIAN LOAN. (B V J3LECTBIC T ELEGRAPH . — COPYRIGHT. ) (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) • London, JaD. 9. The total amount of the Victorian loan tendered for, amounted to £455,550. The tender were chiefly at par. The Stock Exchange abstained from tendering. The balance remains at the minimum until Monday next. The Stock Exchange consider that there is no margin for profit on the Victorian loan, and expect that better terms will be obtained for the summer loan. They therefore advise, that it is preferable to await the impending fall of bank rates. Last month the bankers advised that it should be placed at at a lower minimum, and now say that it is impossible to absorb the full amount of the loan at the present price. The State Treasurer who absconftd from Tennessee, and was captured at Texas, has again escaped, and is reported to have reached Mexico. i 7 jOKDOy, January 10.
