Overhanging Trees.

[Wanganui Chronicle.]

The attention of Mr Giltnour, the invaluable Foreman of Works, should: be directed to the trees and shrubs which overhang the footpaths id many places about town. Besides the inconvenience and m some instances positive danger occasioned to passers-by, the footpaths themselves are destroyed by the constant dropping of rain from the branches to tbe ground. Many glaring instances of this might be mentioned. On tbe footpath from the Bank of Aug.-. trulia to the rail way, at the end of Ridg-way-Btreet and Wilsouhßtreet, an elbow of an acacia juts out over the footway, below the level of a man's average height, and it is within our knowledge that, at night-time especially, this obnoxious branch has caused much annoyance.
