Massey's Frauds.

(br blectbic telegraph.— copyright.) (hedtbr's telegrams.) Melbourne, Jan. 8, The Dunedin municipal frauds are attracting considerable attention. The well-known Melbourne brokers, Were i and Son and Wilder and Griffiths, have been victimised to the extent of L 3500. ;It has been ascertained that Massey's wife sold Griffiths 500 waterworks debentures m the name of Louisa Allen. The coupons were subsequently paid m London. Later, Messrs Were and Son sold fifteen debentures, paying cash to the amount of L 1593, which the wife I accepted m the name of Lucy JJr own ! Massey. She then obtained a draft on New Zealand for L6OO. Wilder also purchased thirteen debentures, paying L 1365 cash, and Massy got a draft for LllsO on Christchurcb.
