The reported rising m Oabul has been suppressed. Mr Richard Lalor, M.P. Queen's County, addressing a meeting at Wicklow, urged the inhabitants of Ireland to commence to orgauisb themselves, with the view of making a forcible effort to secure the freedom of their country. He will probably be prosecuted for his speech. Sir Evelyn Wood advises that the Egyptian army should consist of 6000 men, with a suitable proportion of English officers. The Rhenish provinces and Switzerland are suffering severely from terrible floods. The official bulletin on Sunday afternoon as to M. Gambetta's hetjlth, an* nounced his local condition to be better, and the general condition unchanged. At" 9 o'clock, however, an alarming change occurred, the doctors were hurriedly summoned, but M. The Hawaiian Envoy and Minister to the United States died suddenly at the White House to-day, while attending tlie New Year's reception held by President Arthur. Paris, Jan, 3. Gambotta's age was 44, not 54, as stated m a previous message.
