The Totalizator.
j A lawsuit threatens to result from i Monday's proceeding's at the MartonRangitikei Race Meeting. In the hurdle race ( says the Wanganui Herald), Hinu came m first, but was disqualified as under weight. Of course thesecond horse, Parikarangaranga, was then placed first, and it was expected that the usual rule would be followed m paying out from Jto totalisator on this horse as the winner. The Stewards ordered Mr Pool to pay out on Hinu, against which he. protested an unusual course, but had to obey orders. The Stewards give as their reason for this action that the judge had declared Hinu the winner, although this was before the weighing, and on the home declared the winner by the judge, the machine must, according to the rules, pay out. The backers of Mr Stevens' horse have signified their intention of testing the case, and should they do so tLe proceedings will prove highly interesting to pporting men.
