The latest suggestion of Senator Piot, of the French Legislature, who has made it his life’s mission to arrest the decrease of population in Fiance, is to found a special order with ribbon 'and insignia for mothers of large fami lies. “When soldiers, sailors and even firemen aie decorated,” M. Piot writes, “surely some special decoration should he conferred upon mothers of large families, for they render the greatest of all services to the fatherland.” What happened to Jones ? who knows? Perhaps ’twas ? cold in his nose, Or maybe a cough, which he cculd’nt shake off, And denied him the joy of repose ; Quite likely he both did endure, Which him to his room did immure, Till a friend said one day, Drive your chills all away With— W.
