STOCK SALES. Dunedin, June 3. At Burnside today the supply of both cattle and sheep was much below requirements. It appears to have been thought in the country that no sale would be held. Fat cattle —70 head yarded, principally light to medium weights. Best bullocks £ll 10s to £l2 12s 6d ; medium £9 to £lO l n s ; light and inferior £6 to L 8 10s ; best cows L 9 10s to LI l 5s ; medium L 7 10s to L 8 15s ; light and inferior L 5 10s to L 7. Fat sheep —Only 469 forward. Prices ruled 2s to 3s above last week. Best wethers 20s to 22s ; medium to good 17s to 19s 6d ; others 14s 6d to 16s ■ best ewes, 19s to 22s ; medium to good 1 6s to 1 7s ; others 11s to 1 6s. Lambs —140 penned. These sole under keen competition. Best 13s 6r to 14s 6d ; good 11s 6d to 12s 6d others 9s 60l to 11s 6d. Pigs—Only 33, Slips 13s to 18 porkers 42s to 48s, baconers 51s to 55: big pigs up to L 4. to L 9 ss, cows L 5 10s to L 9 10s; beef 25s to 29s per 1001 b. Fat sheep : As the entry was smaller than usual, keen competition of butchers and export buyers resulted in a satisfactory sale. Best freezing wethers 18s lOd to 22s sd, medium 16s 7d to 18s, best butchers’ ewes 16s to 21s 9d, medium lls 9d to 15s Bd, wethers ? and ewes ]4s6dto 20s. Fat lambs : A small yarding and ! quality .above the average. Prices were from 6d to Is above those ruling last week. Tegs to 17s, freezers 12s 9d to 16s 9d, butchers 9s to 16s 3d. Pigs—A poor entry. The prices obtained afford no indication of values.
