SINGULAR BIGAMY CASE.

A strange case was heard at The Globe (N.S.W.) Court last week, when a man named John Bobngbroke Hilaire was charged with bigamy. Evidence was tendered to the effect that Hilaire, who has lecently been known as a Salvation Army soldier, was man ied many years ago and subsequently divorced. Notwithstanding the proceedings that had led up to the divorce, the couple subsequently made up their differences and were re-mar-ried.in 1889. Afterwards Hilaire left his wife in Sydney and went to New Zealand, where he engaged in Salvation Army work. In the course of his lab mis he became closely associated wi.sh a soldier named Lily Martin, to whom he proposed marriage under the name of John Arthur James.
